Instagram: glimpses of life and design

A friend told me recently that our first vocation, the fundamental one, is to become ourselves. “The vocation of our own skin.” Today on what would have been Mary’s 27th birthday, I’m struck by how she seemed to learn that vocation. And to learn to live it. Not by following the mantras of “you do you,” or “just be yourself,” but by receiving love. Especially Jack’s love. And then the love of her beautiful babies. Receiving a deep and honest love—and giving that deep and honest love—seemed like it allowed her to receive herself. To receive and to live the vocation of being Mary.
I see now how only God can satisfy. There is nothing else deep enough. And pain sweeps up in waves to steal my breath.

New digs and a pair of legs #haciendamoss We’ve been super blessed with some throw-open-the-doors kind of days, and they’re making me so grateful for this beautiful plan that’s been unfolding since our move. Perfect palette
I’m a big fan of creating special nooks in small spaces. And that’s been one of my main goals for this home. As a result we have many favorite corners in this house, but this is my true favorite. This is usually where I begin the day, and it’s like a little oasis
